Patio Home Living Verses Single Family Home; Choose According To Your Needs

Patio home living verses single family home is a choice every person buying a home has to make. They are both types of homes. Patio homes are constructed in such a way that each house is attached to the other. They have a design that is similar. The land on which the houses are built is not really large so they are built close together. The dwellings are not very big because of the size of the land.

The units share walls between them which also gives the homes some privacy. They do not have a garden but a patio that faces a common area. Driveways and other common areas are shared by all members. These homes are found in suburbs which are secluded and close to nature. There is a sense of security since the communities are gated and close knit.

The homes are maintained by a homeowners association. Among the services that the association caters for are lawn mowing, security guards and garbage collection. It also caters for pest control on the exterior, landscaping and painting of the outside areas. A fee is paid for the services. Architectural control is also done by this association. This is to ensure that there is no mushrooming of structures that interfere with the original design and therefore maintain the integrity and beauty of these homes. Some of them have swimming pools and clubhouses which are shared by all community.

A residence standing free alone is referred to as a single detached home. The house occupies a small area than the lot on which it is built. This enables such a home to have a garden. It also has a garage for parking vehicles. The house can be a bungalow or maisonette and can be as big as the owner wants. Only members of one family occupy the residence. The privacy of the free space that surrounds the house is enjoyed by the owner and members of his family only.

These homes are often located near towns due to the amenities that are close-by like schools. If the owner wants to extend his house, he can do so. The interior and exterior design can also be altered. Each area is of course governed by some by-laws when it comes to this.

There are no fees charged for management of the property. Lawn mowing, garbage collection and security are the sole responsibility of whoever owns the residence. In other words all the maintenance and any repair costs are met by him.
